John W. Kennedy

John W. Kennedy joined the firm in 2016 with over 25 years of experience practicing law. He graduated with honors from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and from The Ohio State University College of Law with a Juris Doctor. Following law school, Mr. Kennedy served as a judicial law clerk in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Youngstown, Ohio.

Mr. Kennedy’s practice includes almost all areas of bankruptcy law, including representing debtors and creditors in consumer and business bankruptcy cases, as well as bankruptcy court litigation. For nearly eight years, he was a staff attorney for three Chapter 13 trustees, where he drafted policy statements and handled all litigation and appeals. In addition to his bankruptcy practice, his general civil practice includes business formation and dissolution, as well as transactional work such as buy-sell agreements, commercial leases, and employment matters.

Mr. Kennedy is a member of the Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations and the Credit Education Coalition. He is a frequent speaker on the subject of bankruptcy law and continuing legal education programs and is peer-rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He was an adjunct professor at the Paralegal Program at Capital University Law School from 2000 – 2009. He also serves on the non-profit boards of the Credit Education Coalition and Union Cemetery Association. He was recognized as a Top Lawyer in 2022.
