Nelson E. Genshaft
With more than 45 years as a lawyer, Nelson Genshaft’s practice focuses on business litigation, professional responsibility, regulatory matters, and administrative agency law as a partner in the firm.
Mr. Genshaft attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (B.S. 1970) and Case Western Reserve University School of Law (J.D. 1973). He first worked as a regulator at the Ohio Division of Securities, then as Assistant Attorney General representing various agencies that regulated financial institutions. Before joining the Strip Hoppers law firm, Mr. Genshaft was a partner with Schwartz, Warren & Ramirez for 20 years, then as a partner in his own law firm, Wolman and Genshaft, for eight years.
Mr. Genshaft is a member and past President of the Columbus Bar Association and held various positions in the organization, including the CBA Board of Governors for nine years and Chair of the CBA’s Professional Ethics Committee (1994-98). He now serves on Columbus Bar Services, the CBA’s board that governs its for-profit activities.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Jewish Community Center (2002-2006 and 2015-Present), the Board of Directors of the Columbus Jewish Federation (2000-2004), President of Ohio Jewish Communities, the state-wide lobbying group for the Ohio Jewish Federations (2001-03) and Chair of the Anti-Defamation League for the Ohio-Indiana-Kentucky region (1994-96). He also serves on the Columbus Jewish Community Relations Committee. Nelson has also chaired the Civic Relations Committee and now serves as a trustee on the Board of the German Village Society. This organization is the community group that supports many programs that enrich German Village, the historic neighborhood near downtown Columbus where Nelson lives and where the law firm’s office is located.
